I've been lucky enough to have seen the sky on three continents - and it looks the same everywhere. Good thing, too: this story involves three continents as well, and it is somehow comforting to know that your distant relatives looked out upon the same magnificent sunsets.
Many Americans are fond of proclaiming their un-hyphenated citizenship, as if their ancestors had been here from the beginning of time. However, even the tribal Indians of this great country were merely the first immigrants - from Siberia. Unlike many latecomers, they haven't forgotten their roots, even if the awareness of their actual homeland is shrouded in the fogs of time. I am determined not to forget my own - or deprive my children of their rich heritage.
